Without doubt, Morocco is an amazing destination that you must include in your itinerary.
Although there are a thousand things to discover there, we don’t always have enough time to experience them all. For this reason, at Booking Hello we’re giving you the Moroccan basics in A Brief Guide to 10 Days in Morocco!
At first, Africa can be a little overwhelming due to the culture shock, but as time goes by and we dare to enjoy this incredible destination, we embark on one of the best experiences of our lives.
Walking through its alleys, staying in a Riad, getting lost in a Souk, tasting its food, sleeping in the desert… are you ready for one of the Hello Experiences of your life?
Marrakech
Marrakech is Morocco’s ultimate tourist city. We recommend spending one to three days here; although if you are short on time, you can see it all in a jam-packed day.
Marrakech’s El Badi Palace, which in its day was considered the most beautiful in the world, is a must-see. In the Bahia Palace and the Mausoleum of the 170 Saadian Tombs you can admire the incredible ornamentation work of Moroccan craftsmen. Visit the Madrasa schools, discover incredible outdoor spaces such as Djemaa el-Fna Square, where you will find everything from the best orange juice you have ever tried to snakes to have your photo taken with, and the Marrakech Souk, a must-see market you might never escape from!
Essaouira
This picturesque city with a bohemian touch is located on the Atlantic coast. Its walls are right on the edge of the coast, and the impressive Medina, or fortified town, has become one of the staples of a visit to Morocco. It has a variety of seafood restaurants, cozy bars and a beach that is ideal for surfing. The best thing you can do is go to the port to eat fresh fish from the stalls there and visit the argan oil cooperatives, where widowed and divorced women prepare argan oil, Africa’s liquid gold. Essaouira is very famous because Game of Thrones was filmed there. You will need a day or two to explore it.
Zagora Desert
Some 12 hours from Marrakech and across the High Atlas Mountains, this is one of the most spectacular deserts in the world. Sleep in a haima, eat tagine under the stars, get up early to see the sunrise and traverse its impressive dunes on a camel. You’ll never forget this trip. Two to three days will be enough for your Hello Experience.
Fez
Fez is a special city that preserves many old Moroccan traditions. Visit the Al-Qarawiyyin and Al-Andalus Mosques and the Dar Batha Museum and take a trip back in time. The Medina has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest inhabited medieval city in the Islamic world. For Fez you will need a minimum of three days, as it is the furthest destination from Marrakech.
