Considered the world’s best balloon festival, this event has been held over three weekends in October since 1972. It draws more than 80,000 people and 500 hot-air balloons from around the globe. Early in the morning, the balloon pilots start preparing to participate in the different competitions and mass ascensions. At night, the balloons are lit up so that the beautiful colors glow in the dark.
León, Guanajuato – Mexico
The largest hot-air balloon festival in Latin America is held in the Metropolitan Park of the city of León, Guanajuato. The four-day event gives the more than 400,000 visitors a chance to see the fascinating colors and incredible shapes of 200 hot-air balloons. In addition to the balloons, this festival also features activities such as concerts, competitions and a culinary zone.
